Understanding Rolex Winding Settings

Every Rolex automatic watch has specific winding requirements determined by its movement calibre. The two key settings are:

  • TPD (turns per day) — the number of rotations per 24 hours. Most Rolex movements require between 650 and 1,800 TPD.
  • Direction — clockwise (CW), counter-clockwise (CCW), or bidirectional. This depends on the rotor winding mechanism.

Using the correct settings ensures your Rolex stays accurately wound without over-stressing the movement. The Time Machine app automatically applies the right profile for your specific model.
